I am a self-taught photographer, interested in fine arts, street
photography, portraiture and abstract. Some of my work may be found here, here, and here.
Currently I use 35mm film on a Leica M4-P, and 6x6 medium format film on a
Rolleicord Va and a Zeiss Ikon Ikoflex Ic; eventually I intend to move on to large-format. I
appreciate abstract qualities in photographs, and I try to capture
moments that have some emotive touch to them. Street photography is my
mainstay; I draw inspiration from the works of Charles Negré,
Eugene Atget,
John Strazza,
Henry Cartier-Bresson,
and of course, Robert Doisneau.
During my childhood Indian classical music first enchanted me, after
a few years it inspired me, and has since been the inseparable and
constant source from where I derive peace. A long time ago my
involvement was active, but nowadays I am content to listen and
appreciate.
I am interested in English literature, particularly the works of
Aldous Huxley, Bertrand Russell, and earlier classical works of
Shakespeare and Milton. Despite having made some feeble and some
serious attempts to understand the works of Rabindranath Tagore, I do
not yet possess the audacity to claim that I understand them. I hope my
mind will eventually evolve sufficiently that I will not just
understand, but also perceive his thoughts.
